Learning the Unhurried Way of Jesus
Walking with Jesus is teaching me a different way to live.
Like many people, I have discovered that patience does not come naturally in a life filled with rushing and hurrying. For a long time, I thought I could simply try harder and make myself become more patient. But willpower alone has never given me peace.
I am beginning to see that hurry may be one of the greatest enemies of peace. It keeps me anxious, distracted, and always trying to get to the next thing.
Yet the everyday problems and interruptions I would rather avoid are often the very places where God is working in me.
When I can receive those moments without complaining or fighting against them, patience slowly begins to grow.
Walking with Jesus is teaching me a different way to live. It is not carrying everything alone as a heavy, anxious burden. It is learning to walk with Him in an unhurried, shared rhythm—trusting that Jesus is present even in the interruptions.
Here is the question I am carrying with me:
What is hurry stealing from your life?
What might change if you received today's interruptions as places where Jesus could meet you?
A prayer
Jesus, slow me down enough to recognize Your presence. Meet me in today's interruptions, quiet my anxious heart, and teach me to walk with You in an unhurried rhythm of grace. Amen.

About Pastor Scott
I'm Scott McQuay—a pastor, storyteller, and fellow traveler learning what it means to live each day with Jesus.
After many years in ministry, along with seasons of pain, change, and eight spinal surgeries, I've discovered that following Jesus is more than believing the right things. It is learning to recognize His presence in ordinary life—in quiet mornings, difficult valleys, honest questions, and conversations with people who simply need someone to listen.
Here, Now, with God is a place to slow down, reflect, and explore that life together. Through The With Jesus Life videos and podcasts, I hope to offer thoughtful, down-to-earth conversations that help us become more present to God and more loving toward others.
I'm not speaking from a place of having everything figured out. I'm simply sharing what I'm learning as I walk with Jesus—here, now, one day at a time.
